Nov 26, 2024 Why Did Jesus Come?

Watch Session 2's Video: Why Did Jesus Come?

Review last Session
In our last session, we explored the question, “Who is Jesus?” We touched on the reality that Jesus is the “God-man”—he is fully God and fully human. Since Jesus is fully human, he understands us. He’s shared in our pain, weakness, and limitations and sympathizes with us.  Because Jesus is God the Son, he can—and has—overcome the weaknesses that he willingly took upon himself by becoming a human. Jesus has redeemed us, and he has the power to deliver us from temptation.

Discussion

Why did Jesus come?

Jesus came to announce and accomplish the gospel, which is the good news that through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus rescues us, reigns as king, and leads us into the eternal life we were created to enjoy.

1. While other religions are spelled “DO," that is obey and be accepted by God, Christianity is spelled “DONE,” which is the other way around. How does this help you understand the grace of God?

2. Why did Jesus have to die? Why can't God just look the other way and pardon our sins?

3. When we become followers of Jesus, we become citizens of his kingdom. What are some ways that you can show the kingdom of God to the world this week?

4.  Read John 1:12. Because Jesus loves us, he offers his salvation to us as a gift. Have you ever received Jesus’s offer of salvation? If not, what would it take for you to simply receive that gift from him?

March 17, 2022 Our Father...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Are you wearing green today to avoid being pinched by leprechauns and other fairy creatures?  Or do you cling onto Psalm 84:11 today and everyday? Last week, our homework was to pick a Scripture verse to memorize.  Would you like to share your verse with the group?   Today, our study is on the first phrase of The Lord's Prayer. " Our Father in heaven , hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:9=13 For centuries, believers have memorized and used the Lord's prayer as a tool for going to God in prayer. It was given by Jesus in response to his disciple's request for a lesson in prayer. It continues to be a lesson for us as well. Here is today's video lesson  Our Father Questions for Reflection 1. Have you memorized ...
