October 29, 2024

Today is the 2nd anniversary since my dad moved to heaven. I miss him but have lots happy memories of him. He graduated from Pui Ching Middle School in H.K. and was a proud alumnus. His school has a rich Christian background therefore he was familiar with many traditional hymns, one of which was Amazing Grace. The lyrics of Amazing Grace are based on: “Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said: “Who am I, Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And as if this were not enough in your sight, my God, you have spoken about the future of the house of your servant. You, Lord God, have looked on me as though I were the most exalted of men.” 1 Chronicles‬ ‭17‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Please share a Bible verse that is speaking to you these days?

Colossians 3 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.   2  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.   3  For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.   4  When Christ, who is your [ a ]  life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. October 15, 2024 Philippians 4:4-9

4  Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.   5  Let your reasonableness   (gentleness)   be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;   6  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.   7  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.   9  What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. October 8, 2024 Ephesians 5:17-21

Ephesians 5 17  So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.  18  And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit:  19  speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord,  20  giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,  21  submitting to one another in the fear of Christ. Discussion Questions: 1. "Lord" in v17 can also be translated as "Master".  Do you know the Master's will?  What is it? 2. In what ways does drinking cause impairment?  How does that contrast with being filled with the Spirit? 3. What marks the Spirit-filled life according to v19-20? 4. What does submitting to one another look like?
