March 31, 2022 Be Alright

Aloha Beloved! As we close the first quarter of 2022, let's remember that the Lord is faithful.  He loves us beyond our imagination and He has a purpose for each and everyone of us.  Through Jesus Christ, He invites us into relationship with Him, so that we can affectionately call him Abba Father (daddy, papa).  We have access to an intimate relationship with our Father in Heaven.  He is not to a far-away God, but a nearby Father.  We can pour out everything to Him in prayer.  Yes, even things that are too private to disclose to our most loved ones!  We will be alright in His presence. Together, we worship Him with this song  Be Alright . Discussion: 1. Do you know any Spanish?  What Spanish food have you eaten before?  Any idea what  TODO VA A ESTAR BIEN mean? 2. According to the song,  why is everything going to be alright?   3. The lyrics say, "I need your Word to hold me now, need you to pull me through."...

March 24, 2022 Refresh In Prayer

Prayer refreshes our soul.  How sweet it is for believers to come together to bear each other’s burden in prayer and to lift up praises to our Lord Jesus!  Please pray for Ukraine’s crisis, which has been going on for more than a month now.  Pray for God to lead us to our next pastor.  And don’t forget to start praying for whom you want to invite to the Easter outreach!  Last week, we shared our memory verses and here they are again. Have a great small group! “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 NIV (Christy) ‭‭“No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”‭‭ Micah‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬ (Cora) “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” Psalms‬ ‭34:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬ (Kathy) “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding...

March 17, 2022 Our Father...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Are you wearing green today to avoid being pinched by leprechauns and other fairy creatures?  Or do you cling onto Psalm 84:11 today and everyday? Last week, our homework was to pick a Scripture verse to memorize.  Would you like to share your verse with the group?   Today, our study is on the first phrase of The Lord's Prayer. " Our Father in heaven , hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:9=13 For centuries, believers have memorized and used the Lord's prayer as a tool for going to God in prayer. It was given by Jesus in response to his disciple's request for a lesson in prayer. It continues to be a lesson for us as well. Here is today's video lesson  Our Father Questions for Reflection 1. Have you memorized ...

Women In Leadership 2/22/2022

My Testimony: Being a woman in leadership means dealing with multiple tensions in order to allow God to grow me.  And I mean more tensions than men would ever face.  While growth is the goal, I discovered humility as the unintentional consequence, a pleasant surprise factor! My mission statement twenty years ago was "Do all you can, with all you have, in the time you have, at the place where you are."  I got this quote from a 12-year old terminal cancer patient in Alaska.  As a new mother who had a very full-time career, I had very little time and energy to fulfill my mission.  I remember the tension between wanting to spend Christmas Day with family and the need to respond to a youth crisis involving an angry parent who does not know Jesus. I remember the tension between feeling exhausted and being short-fused with my husband, assuming that he could read my mind and able to cater to all my needs.  How about the tension between career advancement and minist...

March 10, 2022 Be Still. Scripture

Welcome everyone!   March has arrived and there are many things to celebrate, including a ton of family birthdays, and the first day of Spring.  What do you have to celebrate this month? In today's session, we’ll unpack the significance of the Bible and how we can use, learn and memorise the word of God in our quiet time.  Besides the teaching, you will see some people like you and I contextualizing what they have learned into their everyday life.  Here is the link to the video  Be Still. Scripture. Q.  What did you find most helpful in the video?  Q.  How do you approach reading the Bible in your daily life? What are the things that prevent you from reading it?  Q.  Brian mentioned the important relationship between prayer and the Bible. Do you lean more towards prayer or Bible reading in your quiet time? How could you challenge yourself to make this balance more even?  Q.  “Meditation is not an emptying, but a filli...
