January 7, 2024 What Did Jesus Say and Do?

Ice-breaker... Pick one of the following "2024 Year In Review" questions to ponder and share with the group on Tuesday:
Today's Lesson:
Watch Video 3 What Did Jesus Say and Do?

Answer the following questions:

1) J.D. mentioned that sin distorts our view of God. But as a teacher, Jesus teaches us the truth about God.  Share an important truth about God that shaped your life today.

2) Jesus’s second role was as a miracle worker. What are the major differences between seeing Jesus’s miracles as raw displays of power versus redemptive displays of power?

3) The last of Jesus’s roles is that he was a deliverer, delivering us from evil demonic influences. Read Luke 4:31–37. What do you notice about Jesus’s power over the demons in this story and how might that relate to you?

Concluding question:

What do you need the most? Jesus as a teacher, miracle worker or deliverer?

Last week, our homework was to pick a Scripture verse to memorize.  Would you like to share your verse with the group?   Today, our study is on the first phrase of The Lord's Prayer. " Our Father in heaven , hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:9=13 For centuries, believers have memorized and used the Lord's prayer as a tool for going to God in prayer. It was given by Jesus in response to his disciple's request for a lesson in prayer. It continues to be a lesson for us as well. Here is today's video lesson  Our Father Questions for Reflection 1. Have you memorized ...
