Reading Assignment:
Matthew 8:23-27 (The storm)
Mark 2:1-12 (The paralytic and his friends)
Luke 8:40-56 (The girl and the woman healed)
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- (1) Have you ever felt that God was sleeping in a crisis? What does Jesus show us about God in the way he behaves with the disciples during the storm (Matthew 8)?
- (2) In the story of the four people who brought their paralyzed friend to Jesus (Mark 2), we learn some interesting things about healing through Jesus’s response. What stood out to you?
- (3) Jesus’ encounter with Jairus and the bleeding woman (Luke 8) shows us how God is doing many things at once. What do you observe? Who do you relate to most in this story: Jairus or the bleeding woman? Why?
CONCLUSION
Jesus is the calm in your crisis and he is in control. He acts unpredictably and gives you what you need. His agenda is always different than ours. Jesus helps us make sense of the way God works!
