DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
  1. 1. In Genesis 16, God meets Hagar and then leads her to face the hard. Why do you think God continues to lead us to hard places in our life? What did Hagar discover about God?

  3. 2. Have you ever thought about Job’s wife in chapter 2 of Job’s story? Did this video segment show you a different perspective on her? What do you think God feels about us when we cry out in anger or sorrow? Do you think God gave up on Job’s wife? Why or why not?

  5. 3. Laurie said that “The call to do hard is God’s call to a deeper more meaningful faith.” How does the story of Peter in John 21 illustrate this? Was Jesus punishing Peter by telling him he’d be led where he didn’t want to go? Or was he elevating him?

CONCLUSION

  2. The biggest lesson we learn from these three stories is that God is not in our circumstances, He is with us in our circumstances. Does that change your perspective of where God is in hard times?

    It's quite daring for Job's wife to say "Curse God and die", even in her extreme anguish. But God sees her, understands her sorrow and did not immediately punish her for her offense. I quote my Everyday Bible (P.62-63), "get hold of the fact that God is sovereign and that we are his subjects. God is the potter, we are the clay...God is consistent, we are inconsistent. God has a crystal clear perspective on everything, we more often than not are confused...Better to trust the Almighty. He always knows what he is doing."
