April 7, 2022 Thy Kingdom Come

Aloha brother and sisters in the Lord!  We are going to continue to study the Lord's Prayer today.  When I was growing up praying the Lord's Prayer in school, I had the hardest time understanding what "Thy Kingdom Come" means even though I grew up in a British colony and went to a British school where portraits of Queen Elizabeth II was highly recognizable.  Kings and kingdoms seem to be a part of history.  Is the Bible irrelevant and outdated?  Today's video will help us who live in democratic America unpack the meaning behind this phrase of the Lord's Prayer.  Please watch Your Kingdom Come by Chase Replogle from RightNowMedia.

Discussion:

1. How is your prayer life this week?  Any room for improvement?

2. What is the difference between a kingdom and a democracy?

3. If we were created to live in a kingdom with Jesus as our King, what changes need to take place?

4. Why is it dangerous to pray "Let your will be done"?

Take Home Scripture

"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you his kingdom." Luke 12:32

March 17, 2022 Our Father...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Are you wearing green today to avoid being pinched by leprechauns and other fairy creatures?  Or do you cling onto Psalm 84:11 today and everyday? Last week, our homework was to pick a Scripture verse to memorize.  Would you like to share your verse with the group?   Today, our study is on the first phrase of The Lord's Prayer. " Our Father in heaven , hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:9=13 For centuries, believers have memorized and used the Lord's prayer as a tool for going to God in prayer. It was given by Jesus in response to his disciple's request for a lesson in prayer. It continues to be a lesson for us as well. Here is today's video lesson  Our Father Questions for Reflection 1. Have you memorized ...

Is there something you are going through right now where this perspective might help? 2. Looking at what Joseph learned at the end of his story in Genesis 50, have you ever seen the good in something bad that happened to you?   3. When you look at Matthew 1:5, and how God orchestrated the details of these women’s stories, what insight does it give you about how God works?
