April 28, 2022 Lead Us Not

Greetings to All!

The end of April is approaching.  Spring is slowly slipping away while Summer takes over.  Students will be on Summer break and my son is coming home!  Air, land and sea travel will be busier than ever dealing with the volume of travelers who were stuck in the pandemic during the past two years!  This week, France elected their next President,  Elon Musk is trying to create a free speech platform by taking over Twitter, and the U.S. launched a Uniting Ukraine Program to welcome 100,000 Ukrainian refugees.  Next month, we celebrate Boy's Day, Mother's Day and Memorial Day.  On the personal level, I know that we all have individual challenges to navigate every day.  Like it or not, we are a part of this non-stop and ever-evolving world.  Many things can distract us from walking this narrow road.  What is your cornerstone and anchor at every single turn to avoid falling into temptation or being devoured by the evil one?

Matthew 6:13 "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

Jesus is God yet he prayed at every single point in his ministry.  He was praying before his baptism (Luke 3:21-22), praying for his growing ministry (Luke 5:15-16), praying for his decision to call the twelve disciples (Luke 6:12-13), praying before asking his disciples the "Who do you say I am" question (Luke 9:18-20, praying with his core group on the mountain (Luke 9:28), praying in the garden before he was arrested (Luke 22:39-44), praying on the cross to ask God to forgive us (Luke 23:34), and even praying right before He took his final breath (Luke 23:46).

Discussion:

1. What jumps out at you from this video?

2. What are the series of decisions that David made in 2 Samuel 11 that caused him to fall?

3. Are you aware of obstacles or poor choices that can cause you to fall into sin?

4. What evil have you seen in people, organizations or countries that has caused a ripple effect, and that we need to call on God to handle?

Lesson to take home:

Join God by submitting yourself to Him.  Avoid poor choices that can cause you to fall into temptation.  Acknowledge God's power over evil power.

March 17, 2022 Our Father...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Are you wearing green today to avoid being pinched by leprechauns and other fairy creatures?  Or do you cling onto Psalm 84:11 today and everyday? Last week, our homework was to pick a Scripture verse to memorize.  Would you like to share your verse with the group?   Today, our study is on the first phrase of The Lord's Prayer. " Our Father in heaven , hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:9=13 For centuries, believers have memorized and used the Lord's prayer as a tool for going to God in prayer. It was given by Jesus in response to his disciple's request for a lesson in prayer. It continues to be a lesson for us as well. Here is today's video lesson  Our Father Questions for Reflection 1. Have you memorized ...
